The Best Video Conferencing Equipment 2021

In this article, we share our recommendations when choosing webcams, mics, headsets for your video conferencing, webinars and live streams.

At Proficonf events, the quality of the video depends on the webcam used and on the speed and stability of the Internet connection. Video is adaptive and can reach 4K quality if you have a high-speed internet connection.

There is no point in buying a high quality webcam if you have a slow and unstable internet connection – it will only reduce the video quality and the image will “freeze”.

We recommend using a stable Internet connection of 1 Mbps or more when using webcams with 720p. When using 1080p and higher, we recommend an Internet connection speed of 5 Mbps or more.

Your gear needs to be USB-ready. This means you can plug it into your computer or laptop.

Lights for Video Conferencing and Webinars

Lights are very important. Indoor lights will make you look orange, you need to have a white natural light coming towards you slightly above your head.

It can be LED lights, soft boxes or light panels. The right lighting for a webinar or conference will help even a built-in webcam make the video much better.

LED lights

This is mid-priced equipment that will help set up good enough lighting for the host. LED lighting is available from a variety of brands.

Soft boxes, light panels

This is more expensive and professional equipment, which will allow you to set up quality lighting for any event.

Webcams for Video Conferencing and Webinars

When choosing a webcam, be sure to consider several criteria:

  • Image resolution from 720p to 4K. The middle is 1080p FullHD.
  • Webcam needs to have a USB plug
  • Great autofocus and frame rate from 30 per second.
  • You need a camera with a zoom for a full frame, even better if it is a PTZ webcam.

Be sure to buy a tripod along with the webcam so that you can fix it securely and not get into an awkward position during the event.
